Supporting the delivery of South Sudan’s peace processes
Providing Technical Assistance to the peace processes in South Sudan
Our work in South Sudan is supporting the international efforts to achieve peace and security.
We have been delivering our technical and operational support programme since 2016, funded under the UK Government’s Conflict, Security and Stability Fund, and we began a three-year second phase in 2019.
We provide technical experts to the international bodies responsible for overseeing implementation of the peace agreement - the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission - and reporting on any violations - the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism. Our team works to improve accountability and inclusivity, so that levels of violence decrease and the peace agreement can be fully implemented.
This programme has positioned the UK strongly within the wider joint international and regional approach to these processes and is enhancing the broader impact of these efforts. The programme’s flexible set-up allows the UK to be highly responsive in politically dynamic contexts, with Coffey able to deliver smaller, more targeted pieces of work as and when required.
